The Irish Times Debate 2022-2023

The Irish Times Debate semi-finals will take place in the Royal Irish Academy. These debates are in partnership with the ARINS Project. Some of Ireland’s most talented young debaters will tackle motions relating to this island’s future, north and south.

The four semi-finals in this year's series will run each week from January 13th to February 3rd. The debates are open to the public and anyone who is interested is welcome to attend.

January 13th This House Believes That mandatory coalition would be necessary in a united Ireland

January 20th This House Believes That to achieve a united Ireland Amhrán na bhFiann would have to go

January 27th This House Believes That the economic interests of this island, north and south, are threatened by a united Ireland

February 3rd This House Believes That Ireland’s youth have forgotten the lessons of the Troubles
