The Irish Times Positive Impacts 2025 in association with EirGrid

Join Irish Times' Environment and Science Editor Kevin O'Sullivan and a host of guests to discuss how businesses can achieve momentum and progress climate action strategy in a year of increased collective climate ambition.

From the EU Green Deal, to the programme for government and the consequences for different sectors in Irish society, 2025 is set to be an important year for climate action. Our panels will explore this renewed focus, as well as how businesses can gather momentum and deliver against their Climate Action strategies, at our annual Positive Impacts gathering in 1Windmill Lane.

Doors open and light breakfast will be provided from 8.30am, with the event commencing at 9am.

Panel topics and guests

Panel One: Ireland’s revised climate targets and policies and what they mean at an organisational level.

This panel of experts will explore what Climate Action Plan 2025/the new programme for government means for Irish businesses, state companies and utilities, especially on energy/climate. It will also discuss the EU Green Deal as the key lever in addressing competition and energy security issues and what requirements it places on Ireland. Finally, the panel will reflect on the consequences of increased collective ambition among the signatories of the Paris Agreement in advance of COP30 in Brazil next November.

Panel Two: Progressing Climate Action Strategy at business level.

Our second panel of guests will discuss whether the Sustainable Development Goads (SDGs) still have a place in the climate action plan mix? They will also review initiatives worth prioritising from an Irish perspective renewable energy, sustainable transport, circular economy, agriculture, biodiversity, and coastal erosion. Finally, they will talk action, progress and momentum at business level, from Identifying stakeholders, to target setting and measuring progress, as well as CSRD reporting strategies.
